Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs, but some models can be converted to accommodate an additional seat or carrycot using adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an additional board for older kids who are ready to walk, but need some help.
Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for urban streets. It's easy to maneuver and has an enormous basket that has plenty of storage. It can hold twins as young as birth and accept two car seats or a carrycot and seat. However, the seats need to face forwards and there's not enough space for a shopping bag under which is why you'll need a sidepack for that.
If you like to travel off-road then the Mountain Buggy Duet is a excellent choice. It's a side-by-side with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. It's much easier to get through narrow doors as well as on public transport. It is also able to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar features an additional handbrake for security and safety.
Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double, which can be used to accommodate twins or a toddler and baby. Suspension
The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine the ease with which you and your child/children are able to push it. It is essential to enjoy a smooth ride because babies can feel every bump in the road. This is especially true if you are driving on rough terrain such as grass or roads that are not paved. Some models also come with locking front wheels to assist with maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Some models have tyres with air filled which are ideal for all-terrain rides, but they can be prone punctures. Make sure you keep a spare set of tyres in your trunk. 3 wheeled pushchair come with foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, however they may cause discomfort for your child if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath put the Urban Glide 2 through its trials with her newborn and 3 years old, and found that it was able to handle tricky terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements, cobbles and dirt tracks with ease and was easy to maneuver around corners and climb up and down kerbs. It's also very comfortable to jog, with the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheels that provide a steady jogging experience." The Urban Glide 2 has a variety of features, like large seats with padded cover as well as a hood that has 50+ UV protection and easy-to-use and rechargeable visibility lights.
Folding
A 3-wheel double buggy folds pretty well to store it. There are options that fold flat and then stand up (as as if they were in a pushchair) and also those that pop open to reveal a more umbrella-like fold that has the option of a brake operated by hand. In general the more wheels a buggy comes with, the easier it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability, and it's less likely that you be forced to flip or tip your child.
The iCandy Wave is a popular option. It can be used in conjunction with an infant car-seat from birth, and later converted into a double buggy side-byside when your child is older. It's a light-feeling option, which makes it easy to push, and it comes with extra features, including a bumper bar and raincover.
The phil&teds sports is a different option. It is future-proof as it's a fantastic buggy, and can be modified to accommodate two (or three!) in its small footprint. It is a clever 3-wheel design with the sling seat to provide greater maneuverability, stability and the ability to pop the kerb.
